FC Groningen signed Jonas Ivens from KV Mechelen and part of the contract was that FC Groningen had to play a friendly in and against KV Mechelen. Since this weekend is one where all national teams play Euro qualifiers, it was agreed to have the friendly take place yesterday. FC Groningen had 7 starters play for their respective national teams in Euro qualifying games but had 14 players left to field a team against KV Mechelen. The FC scored thrice between the 19th and 28th minute. KV scored twice in the second half but it was too little,too late. Next up is FC Utrecht next Sunday. The game will be played at the home ground "Euroborg".
