Wawasee-NorthWood 2-0 (2-0)

After a good start and some chances for NW, the first goal however is scored by Wawasee in the 25th. Six minutes later, another goal changes the scoreboard to 2-0 which would be the final score as well. It never seemed that we were in the game after the first goal and yet, it never felt that we were out of it but in the end, not enough dangerous opportunities are created to score that important first NW goal to change the momentum. Obviously we are all disappointed knowing that we were very close to reaching a Sectional final against either Garrett or Angola. Once we let it all sink in, we will realize that we have had a good season. Going from a 5 win season last year to a very respectable 9-9 this year. We had set three goals for the season: win the pre-season tournament, win the Argos tournament and win Sectionals. We made two of the three goals and fell short on the last one. A lot of seasons you can end up with a good record or championships but the team chemistry is what is important; for this season and the next one! This is a group of guys that get along, they don't get too high and they don't get too low. The seniors this year provided great leadership and really helped a lot of the younger guys along. The seniors will be missed. At the same time, we have a lot of talent on the team and all of these guys will get better in the next 9 months when we start another journey! NOTES- Tuesday October 10th we will meet in Duerksen's room after school to turn in warm ups and jersey's etc. (clean!). We will also take down the nets at the practice and game field. We will not have any off season work outs until after the State Finals which means that as long as we can find a facility to play in, we can start back up on Monday October 30th. When we finalize plans on that, I will post it. The same goes for the Fall Awards which will probably be in that same week. I want to thank all the parents, grandparents and siblings and fans for the support during the season. Thanks to the Weldy's for providing the team with food and drinks. Thanks to all the parents who hosted team dinners as well. This truly is a year long journey that started last November and now we will start our next 12 month journey in about 3 1/2 weeks. Thanks for reading the blog, it has been a fun year to do this again -fun for me that is, it might not have been a lot of fun to read- and hope to see you on the sidelines again next year! It is important for our future players to be at the off season Monday night pick up games but for now, all of you should enjoy a few weeks without soccer!
