2019 Season Preview

The season starts with a home game against the Lakeland Lakers. There will not be a press box for probably several years so it sounds like the million dollar field will have a 100 dollar press box in the shape of a tent. Not that it matters to us, for us it is about soccer and the field will give us an opportunity to play the game on a for once, predictable surface. I am not aware of there being a concession stand/trailer at this point so I guess we will find out closer to or at game time. After the season opener we will be on the road for two matches; first at Tippy Valley (Akron, IN) followed by a trip to our friends to the Northeast where we will battle the Raiders in Middlebury. We will see which Amish community offers the best soccer team this year. The last August game will be at home vs. Concord. The Minutemen are always a top contender in the NLC so facing Northridge and Concord early on in the season this year will give us a good idea where we are at. For the first time ever, we will play on Labor Day. Make sure to mark your calendars!!!! We play the Bremen Lions in a 7 pm contest. The next day we are back in action for the first ever game against Jimtown who are in their inaugural season.A week later we host the Wawasee Warriors for another NLC match up. The longest homestand concludes with a visit from Elkhart Christian. On Saturday 9/14 we will spend the day (and hopefully evening) in Argos for the Argos Invitational. Our opponents at this time, are still unknown as are the starting times. On 9/17 we play another NLC game in and against Warsaw. The Tigers are always a solid team but have not been as good as they were about 6-7 years ago. Two days later we host NLC contender Goshen. It has been quite some time since we defeated the Redhawks. On the 24th of September we will play at ELkhart Memorial for the last time (Memorial will merge with Elkhart Central and join the NIC next year). The last game of September will take place in Walkerton when we try to avoid rolling our ankles at Glenn. From a distance the complex looked nice a few years ago but once on the field, we can clearly state that the field was dreadful and outright dangerous. Hopefully the condition of the pitch has improved. The regular season concludes with a home game and Senior Night versus Plymouth (NLC) and the away game at Bethany. The 2019 Sectionals will be hosted by NorthWood. We as a coaching staff are excited about the upcoming season. Our pre season matches have helped us work on how we want to play this year and we are looking for a lot of good (and hopefully surprising) results that will catapult us into the post season! We are counting on your support from the sidelines as our 12th Man!!!!!
