NorthWood- #10 Concord 0-3 (0-3)

A sunny comfortable Saturday means that it is a good day to enjoy some NLC soccer for fans and players alike. Concord (ranked 6th in one poll, 13 in another) is surely one of the strongest opponents on our regular season schedule. After Seth takes over the announcing duties for Randy Cripe who couldn't make it today, we get to enjoy the National Anthem before kick off.Concord will score in the 8th, 23rd and 27th for an early lead. After some half time adjustments which mainly deal with defensive organization and communication, we are able to clean up our play and perform much better in the second. Our first shot at the Minutemen's goal comes in the 48th minute (Sebastian Guillen free kick) but we talk more and organize ourselves much better defensively. Not an easy thing to do against such a talented team. The Varsity falls to 2-2 and does not have a game on their schedule until after the Labor Day weekend. All in all, despite losing 0-3, the feeling around the team is that we are getting better each game and are excited about putting a lot more results in the win column this season. We are ready to get back on the winning track and wish our schedule was more balanced then it is. Not playing one week at all (11 days off) and having three weeks in September of having 3 games a week with a lot of back to back nights is not really helping a young talented team like ours but it is what it is. The JV put in a respectable performance and lost 0-1. Marius had a great cross (while on the ground, of course) to Kaden whose shot just didn't go left enough. Practice tomorrow will be at the High School training ground. A couple of players picked up some knocks and have a week to recover. We are hopeful that Jadon will be back for the next game as well.
