Game Day #17 Sectional Finals

Tomorrow is Game Day 17. After David went down with his regular season ending injury, we had no choice but to re-adjust. Obviously David was a huge part of our defense and therefore a huge part of what we thought would be a successful season inside the lines. But once we figured out what adjustments needed to be made and after everyone has had a chance to get comfortable with the new system, it feels like we are back on track. The focus is now on tomorrow's game. It has been a while since we won a Sectional. 2010 to be exact. In 2010 we won the LaVille Sectional. In 2011 the IHSAA went to two class soccer and moved NorthWood to the current Sectional (#7). The first Sectional under the current system was played at Warsaw (Warsaw and Plymouth are alternate sites). In 2011 we beat Wawasee 2-0 in the second round to advance to the Finals. That is the last year we made it to the Sectional Finals. Warsaw beat us 4-0. Our record that year was 11-7-0 We have not made it out of the second round since....... until this year. So tomorrow we play Plymouth for the Sectional title. During the regular season we tied them 2-2. Plymouth is dangerous offensively with a lot of speed and their forwards are not afraid to shoot. Defensively they have shown some shortcomings. Plymouth enters the Sectional Final with a 10-6-2 record. NorthWood carries a 5-9-3 record. Plymouth has scored 51 goals and given up 43. NorthWood's output has been less than that (33) but has also given up much less (29) then the Rockies. All NLC teams are common opponents. The record for common opponents outside conference (Mishawaka, Lakeland Christian, Bremen and Argos) for Plymouth is 2-2-0 and for NorthWood 2-1-1. NorthWood has won Sectionals in 2006 2007, 2008 and 2010. We have been in Sectional Finals at numerous sites over the years (Bethany Christian, LaVille and Warsaw for a total of at least 8 or 9). Over the years we have been assigned to those sites for Sectionals as well as Westview for a couple of seasons. FRIDAY - Today's practice will be a normal Friday practice and we should wrap things up by 5 pm. SATURDAY - Tomorrow we will revert back to our Sectional Finals program where we will have a walk through & light practice (this gets the team together and get the boys to start focusing on the game) at 10 am. We should be done by about 10:45. We will head to Burkholder's Dutch Village from the game field and have a team brunch. After brunch we hope that all players relax and get ready for the game. The bus will leave the High School at 4:45 pm. We will be ready to warm up at 5:30 pm. The gates at Kindt Field will open at 4:45, the game kicks off at 6 pm. We hope to see a large fan base in Plymouth especially since we are up against the home team. So please bring your fiends and family members. Hope to see you there to cheer on our boys! GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!
