Argos Invitational Garrett-NorthWood 1-4 (0-1)

The first round of the Argos tournament features the first ever meeting between Garrett and NorthWood. It doesn't take long for NW to get started. The first goal of the day sees Eusebio (introduced as Useebio)serve Clay in the Railroaders' box. Clay takes a quick shot that hits the ropes for the 1-0 lead. Coach Duerksen (introduced as Durskin) likes the quick shot since that has been the subject of discussion with our offense lately. In the 15th Eusebio is once again trying to steal the show and takes a shot (yes Eusebio!) but it goes over. Taylor has two opportunities (18th & 19th min.) but misses both. In the 38th, Garrett takes a shot from outside the box that seems to go over but the hard gusty wind pushes the ball down into the upper 90 and Kyle has to make a great save to preserve the fragile lead. The second half starts like the first; with a quick Panthers goal. Taylor cuts and goes by three Garrett defenders and, with composure, places the ball in the goal for the 2-0. In the 50th however, Kyle again needs to make a save, this time on the ground, to keep the "0" on the board. Clay attacks on the left side in the 52nd and passes by the opponents defense, a nice hard near post shot hits the post and crossbar (net?) and comes back out. Six minutes later Garrett takes advantage of poor marking and connects for a 2-1 score. The back and forth type of game finally sees a 74th minute goal when Barahona delivers the ball to Clay who gets the ball over the keeper for a two goal lead. In the 79th, Brayton Taylor gets an assist by passing a nice ball to B. Barahona (Barhona according to the Argos announcer)who places the ball low and right for the final score of 4-1. The win puts the Panthers in the 8pm championship game against the Argos Dragons (who had beat Glenn earlier). The team played well and got nice contributions from Connor, David and Braton off the bench.
