June 13 - July 22, 7v7 in Elkhart (NIBCO fields off CR 14) - two participating teams.

July 14 - Scrimmage vs. Plymouth (at home - 6 pm - Varsity only).

July 22 - July 24 - Summer Soccer Showcase, Anderson IN - Varsity only.

August 1 - start of two-a-days 9-11/1-3

August 11 - Red/Black intra squad scrimmage

August 13 - Car Wash fundraiser - mandatory attendance

VV Grijpskerk avoids relegation

The VV beat Oeverzwaluwen 3-2 with a Wobbes 84th minute goal to secure a spot in the first division. After 26 games, Grijpskerk finished in 9th place with a 9-11-6 record. The red shirts scored 47 goals and let in 40. The Knickerbockers and Omlandia face relegation to the second division while LTC and Noordseschut will play in the 1st/2nd division relegation/promotion play offs.

FCGroningen - Heracles 2-1

With a 2-1 win at home it was the Pride of the North who moved on to the Dutch play off finals. The opponent will be ADO The Hague. The winner of the home and away series will compete in the 2011-2012 Europa League.

FC Groningen idle

Due to Euro 2012 qualifiers, the FC was idle this weekend. Next game is Round 29 on April 3rd versus VVV Venlo in the Euroborg.

Omlandia - VV Grijpskerk 0-5

The win takes the VV from 8th to 5th place! Relegation no longer an issue!!

2011-2012 Sectional information

NorthWood will be in a sectional with Warsaw, Plymouth, Wawasee and Culver Military Academies this Fall.

Holwierde-VV Grijpskerk 3-3

Disappointing draw actually. The VV came back from behind three times but then failed to convert a PK into a win in the last minute of the game. The second draw in a row drops the red shirts from 6th to 8th position overall but relegation looks almost out of the question. And that would be a victory in itself.

Indoor season over....U16 forfeits

It was tournament time, or was it. Due to the inability to produce a team (less then 6 players were available), the FC GroningenU16 had to forfeit the eand of season tournament. Overall, the indoor season was a good experience with some good results, especially in the first session. Hopefully with the U19 & U16 teams playing indoor, we will be able to field a more competetive and skillful team this Fall. Thanks to Coach Seitz for all his support (financial/motivational) and all his time. Thanks for his creativity as well (the green shirts and all that is on the shirts were his idea). Thinking back, he did spend a lot of time organizing the team, making sure he had enough players at each game, picking up some of them when a ride was not available. And don't forget, he coached both U16 & U19 this season, so: THANKS AGAIN COACH SEITZ!

I guess they wouldn't start winning until I left the country. Granquist goal determines outcome of a game that gives the FC three badly needed points.

Joga Bonita - FC GroningenU16 (NW) 5-2

Best game and effort of the session against a good team with plenty of subs. And that was the only thing lacking on our side....subs. It was still 2-2 with 3 plus minutes on the clock but the third goal for Joga took the wind out of our sails as the energy level dropped due to missing benchwarmers. Up next saturday 3/5/11 at 10 pm, #4 Montoya. Tim and Kyle had fantastic games (their best efforts ever indoor), Taylor added two goals, Clay added very solid and disciplined defense.

VV Grijpskerk defeats #2 d'Olde Veste

02/26/11- After 15 minutes of play, d'Olde Veste lost a player by way of a red card. With ten men they were unable to answer a counter attack minded Grijpskerk who scored all 4 goals in the second half. The VV moves into 6th place overall.

Whitko scheduled for season opener 8/16/11

The Panthers will open the 2011-2012 season at home with the first ever game against the Whitko Wildcats.

U16 (FC GroningenU16) enjoys bye week

No game scheduled for the U16 team this weekend. NW Voetbal U16 returns to action next saturday at 10 pm versus "Miles Lab". Both teams have goose eggs in the W column.

The Whitko Wildcats will be a new opponent for the Panthers this coming season. The date is not certain yet but we are trying to schedule the contest early on in the season. It is also not known at this point if it will be a home or away game. Whitko High School is located in South Whitley, IN.

VV Grijpskerk moves up to 7th place in the First Division

On 2/5 the VV defeated Drentina 0-2 away and today it was Noordseschut who saw Grijpskerk walk off the pitch with a win (3-2). This makes three wins in a row (Oeverzwaluwen were beaten 2-1 in January) and also means that the VV Grijpskerk is undefeated in 2011! The video shows Grijpskerk playing in the Leekster Football Gala (indoor). The first game on the video is against Zuidhorm who were beaten 4-0 in the quarterfinals and the semi-final is against Leek Rodenburg. LR won the game 2-0 in front of a sell out crowd.

IHSAA decides Class Soccer

NorthWood has been assigned to the Class AA in two class soccer, starting this Fall. Class AA contains the schools with the higher enrollment in the state. If you have an enrollment of less then 755 you play in the smaller Class A. Other area teams in Class AA are Concord, Warsaw, Wawasee, Goshen, Memorial,Plymouth and Elkhart Central. LaVille, Glenn and Bremen are all in Class A. The size of the sectionals are supposed to be 4 or 5 teams so let's hope for a good draw.
