NW Soccer Camp 2012

Soccer Camp will be held Mon June 18 thru Thursday June 21.

7v7 & OG information

The NorthWood 7v7 Black team will consist of Varisty players, Northwood's 7v7 Red team will consist of JV & incoming freshmen players. The 7v7 season starts on June 5th. Each Tuesday night each team will play at 5 & 6:10 pm (back to back). Schedules will be handed out next week during OG. Any incoming freshman interested in playing 7v7 needs to be at OG next Monday (7:30-9 pm)to receive the sign up sheet that needs filled out by the player's parent.

7v7 2012 again has two NW teams

Two NorthWood teams will play in the 7v7 at NIBCO in ELkhart again this summer. Each Tuesday, both teams will play back to back games. Game times are 5 pm and 6:10pm and the season starts on June 5th and concludes on July 17. No games will be played the week of July 4th.

ECU with Kyle and Clay are doing well

With the record at 4-1, ECU U17 will travel to the Indiana Invaders. With 4 U16 players complementing the group it will be a tough game since Clay, TJ and others are not able to make it. 5:30 pm Saturday kick off in South Bend. In the last game ECU U17 won 1-0 at home against NorthWest Indiana United. Kyle got the shutout and Clay got the lone goal. Clay has scored in 3 consecutive games. Carter Dyksen (ECU U16) is out for the ECU travel season with a nasty ankle injury but should be fit before the Soccer Showcase in July.

FC Groningen fires coach

Coach Huistra was fired after two disappointing seasons at the helm of the Green and White Pride. The search is on for a new coach. I'm thinking about applying......

VV Grijpskerk loss means relegation

VV Grijpskerk lost the final home game (and the last game on natural grass)1-4 to Trynwalden. The loss means that the red devils can no longer escape spot #13. #13 and # 14 will automatically be relegated to the 2nd Division for the 2012-13 season.

OG/AC

With the Spring season now in full swing, the attendance for OG has dropped. Last night was the last OG before Spring Break. We will be back at it again April 9th at 7:30 pm.

VV Grijpskerk + FC Groningen = 0 points

VV Grijpskerk loses 1-0 to CVVB while the FC loses 1-3 at home (!) to Vitesse. Grijpskerk faces Oeverzwaluwen Leeuwarden on Saturday, the FC travels to FC Utrecht on Sunday. Grijpskerk drops to 13th and is now officially in the relegation zone, the FC is still sitting pretty good at 9th (of 18) and still has a chance for the play offs for European Football in the Fall of 2012.

#13 VV Grijpskerk prepares for #9 CVVB

On 3/3, VV Grijpskerk played host to #3 FC Meppel. The 1-1 draw was a good reflection of the game and the VV was satisfied with a point. A crucial time in regular competition now begins. It is pretty obvious that points need to be earned on a regular basis if the VV wants to keep playing in the first division. It would be nice to play on the new artificial turf (planned for August 2012)with a new coach in the first division but W's and draws need to be the results in coming months.

The new artificial turf will be placed on the main game field (and not the main practice field or secondary game field as planned earlier). Lights will be become necessary then as well (now lights are only surrounding the practice facility).

FC Groningen transfer: Tadic to FC Twente

FC Twente paid 7.7 million euros (10 million dollars)for Assist King Tadic. GK Van Loo and Enevoldsen are hurt and won't play against Vitesse Arnhem.

Summer Soccer Showcase

NorthWood is one of 19 teams registered so far for the Soccer Showcase. Other area teams that have signed up so far are Northridge, Westview and Bethany Christian. For updated information on the tournament, go to www.hoosierfutbol.org.

Tonight, 2/20/12, we will have Open Gym from 7:30-9 pm. Turnout has been decent but we are missing too many varsity players who are not currently in another sport. The summer is only about 3 months away and at that time we will try to have open gym more frequently as long as the turnout is accepatable.
