2010 Summer Soccer Showcase

The showcase will take place in Anderson, IN at davis Park on July 23, 24 & 25. We will play two of the three days but at this point it is unknown which two days.

OG/AC back to normal

after a two week hiatus we will resume play at the normal time of 7:30. We will be done no later then 9 pm.

Open Gym times remain the same; 7:30 pm - 9 pm. Spring sports start today and that is the reason we can not use the AC before 7:30.

OG/AC update for Monday 2/15/10

Now that school is in session Monday (President's Day),we will have Open Gym. Starting time is 7:30 pm until about 9 pm. Less then 170 days until 2-a-days!

AZ - FC Groningen 0-1

The 2009-2010 winterstop is over. After a draw against FC Twente last week, the FC improved by defeating AZ 0-1. Matavz scored his 7th of the season in the 65".

OG/AC February 1

We will get started between 730 and 745 pm (as soon as freshman basketball has concluded). We will finish up around 9pm.

"Sweetheart week is next week. Sweetheart t-shirts will go on sale today during lunch. They are only on sale for 3 days, so don’t delay. The cost is $10. Also, sign up for next week’s sweetheart activities: Dodgeball is Monday and Ping Pong and the Pie Eating contest are next Thursday. You can sign up at lunch in the North Surge."

So, due to the activities in the AC -dodgeball- on Monday Night, Open Gym soccer will not take place. We will resume OG/AC Monday February 1st at 7:30 pm.

OG/AC information

There will be open gym for NW Boys Soccer in the NorthWood Athletic Center (AC)on Monday 01/18/10. We will start around 7:45 (due to the freshmen basketball game) and will end around 9 or so.

Another friend who coaches soccer

My former co-worker and friend Roland Kuipers, a soccer legend in his own mind, coaches youth soccer at VV Aengwirden in the Netherlands. If I am not mistaken, Roland and I played together on a company team for GSD Leeuwarden in the 80's in the Frieslandhal. Roland has, if memory serves me right, a goalscorer's instinct a la Gerd Muller. In the picture he is located in the last row on the right

Reminder, the next Open Gym will be in the AC on Monday January 11 from 7:30 - 9 pm.

Open Gym/AC update

Monday 12/21/09 we will have Open Gym from 7:30 - 9 pm in the AC.

AC Open Gym - new starting time!

Starting Monday December 7, Open Gym will start around 7:30 -maybe a little after- and will last til about 9 pm. Due to the start of the basketball season we are forced to move the starting time back just a bit. Since both coaches will be at a basketball game at the Pit on monday, we ask that everybody gets to the AC around 7:30 and as soon as the coaches show up we will start play.

Fall Awards correction

The Fall Awards on November 3rd will start at 6:30 pm and NOT at 7 pm as first reported. The mistake is entirely to blame on me and I therefore was unable to locate anyone I could blame for it and I regret that even more then the mistake itself.

VV Noordseschut - VV Grijpskerk 2-3 (0-2)

VV Grijpskerk defeats the #2 team in a game that had Grijpskerk lead 0-2 at the half in goals, Noordseschut recorded 2 red cards before the half. The second half went the opposite way in goals; the blue & whites tied it up at 2-2 but then scored an own goal late in the game to give Grijpskerk its second win in a row. VV Grijpskerk moves up to 7th place overall.

Fall Sports Awards Night

The Fall Awards Night will be on Tuesday November 3 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Boys Soccer will award the winner of the "Kyle Hunsberger Award", the MVP, Captains and Most Improved as well as All NLC and Honorable Mention NLC. The off season schedule will be a topic of discussion as well.

NLC change for 2010

Next season, the NLC will finally adopt the rule where a win earns a team 3 points and a tie one point. Until now, the NLC was one of the last conferences to hold on to the 2 points for a win and one for a draw rule.
